What Are We Fighting For?
WHAT:
A debate entitled "The Future of the Democratic Party:  What Are We Fighting For?" featuring two prominent Colorado Democrats who represent contrasting approaches to some of this era's toughest issues.
WHO:
Denver Auditor Don Mares and former U.S Senate candidate Steve Leatherman.  Tom Strickland, the Colorado Democratic U.S. Senate candidate in 1996 will moderate.
WHEN &
WHERE:
Thursday, April 10 at 5:30 PM at the Embassy Suites, 1881 Curtis Street in downtown Denver.
WHY:
The Democratic Party faces an important crossroads here in Colorado and across the nation.  The outcome of debates like this will shape the Party's future.
BACKGROUND:
Mares advocates a single-payer form of universal health, strengthening labor unions and diversity through affirmative action.  Leatherman, meanwhile, promotes the "New Democrat" agenda, which rejects New Deal liberalism, promotes equal opportunity but not equal outcomes and acknowledges that government cannot solve all of the nation's problems.

The forum costs $5 to cover the expenses of the facility and hors d'oeuvres.  Those wishing to attend are urged to make reservations immediately.
