Sen. Kerrey Addresses Future of Social Security
IS THE SYSTEM SAFE AND SOUND OR A BABY (BOOMER) BUST?

WHAT:
A Policy Forum entitled "Social Security: Safe and Sound or a (Baby) Boomer Bust?" featuring US Senator Bob Kerrey of Nebraska, Dottie Lamm and US Representative David Skaggs.
WHO:
Kerrey, who co-chaired the high-profile Bipartisan Commission on Entitlement and Tax Reform, is Vice Chairman of the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence and a member of the Senate Agriculture and Senate Finance Committees.  Lamm is the former First Lady of Colorado and Denver Post columnist.  A member of the House Appropriations Committee, Skaggs served as chairman of the Democratic Study Group, the policy arm of the House Democratic Caucus.
WHEN:
Saturday, September 20, 11:30 AM
WHERE:
The Embassy Suites, 1881 Curtis Street in Downtown Denver
WHY:
Social Security is the federal government's largest, most popular, and most expensive program.  The wide and sharp disagreement about the nature of Social Security's financial problems is causing retirees to worry that their benefits may be reduced; workers, especially younger workers, doubt that Social Security will be there for them when they retire.
OTHER:
The Colorado Democratic Leadership Council promotes the "New Democrat" agenda which rejects New Deal liberalism, promotes equal opportunity but not equal outcomes, and realizes that government cannot solve all of our problems.

The Policy Forum costs $25 per person to cover expenses associated with lunch and the facility.  Those wishing to attend are urged to make reservations immediately by the calling the Colorado Democratic Leadership Council's Reservation Hotline at 303-629-4816.

For the news media, the event is free and there is no need to RSVP.
